Like our students, we’re film fanatics. Movies help us unwind, they entertain and engage us, but they also help us experience different lives and cultures. And when they are tied to specific learning objectives, films can be a wonderful teaching tool. If you have an interest in bringing movies into the classroom, but don’t know where to start, Film English is a great place to begin.
Film English is a resource that offers free lesson plans that revolve around the use of video and film to teach English. Here’s what we love about Film English:
All of the movies are housed directly on the site, so you’ll never have to search for a movie rental store
The lesson plans cover a wide variety of topics: anything from bullying, compassion and creativity, to happiness, love and racism
Lesson plans are designed to teach students how to think critically, reflect on their values and preconceptions, all while strengthening their writing and speaking skills.
